Daniel Malpikka is a writer and artist based in Helsinki. His transdisciplinary practice merges literature, sound, design, and performance to explore cross-narratives and transmedial storytelling. With a career bridging Finland, the Nordics, and Latin America, Malpikka has developed over a dozen literary and multimedia projects that challenge conventional boundaries between art forms and linguistic diversity.

He is the author of several poetry collections, including Paréntesis, Marduk: Senectus Signum, and Ex-Aether, as well as the recent Se escribe con X and Manuke Libre, both supported by the Finnish Arts Promotion Centre (TAIKE) and the Kone Foundation. His editorial and publishing work includes co-directing Radiador Magazine (2011–2014), a pioneering Latin American literature and arts publication.

Malpikka’s artistic productions have been featured at institutions such as the Contemporary Art Museum Kiasma (Helsinki), Lettrétage Literature House (Berlin), and the Helsinki International Artist Programme. Signature works include Atlas. Lighting Codex, Time to Deliver X3 (with composer Tomomi Adachi), Xspecies (with poet Elizabeth Torres), A.T.A.L.A.J.A. (with sound artist Pedro MacLoughlin) and the solo exhibition KAAMOS. In 2022, he served as the artistic director of the Copenhagen Literature Festival, and in 2024, the artistic director for the Resonans Fringe Festival in Denmark. He has also translated and published the work of Sámi poet Niillas Holmberg, which earned him support from the Finnish Literature Exchange – FILI.

From 2019 to 2022, Malpikka was a member of the board of directors of Finnish PEN. He has taught materiality of writing at the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki and continues to engage with collaborative, multilingual, and community-driven literary formats. He is currently, together with Amado Peña, co-founder of Ku’um collective.

Malpikka is permanently based in Helsinki, Finland.
